Dear Cheikh,

What a wonderful evening.

Everyone clearly had a blast. It was great to meet you, and Ousmane and John. I loved the different energy of the two groups – one gentle, fun. and family-oriented, the other full of passion, focus and drive from the boys.

Yours ever, Hailz – Eton College

Hi Jo and Cheikh,
I just wanted to let you both know what a fabulous day we have had here at Christ the King.

Cheikh, thank you so much for coming and giving us such an amazing day! You have such a wonderful way of working with the children and they enjoyed it so much (even though Year 6 had their  "cool"  faces on!!)  SLT coming in and dancing at the end was the icing on the cake!!!
Jo, thank you so much for organising this.

I really hope we can repeat it next year!
Best wishes,
Rose – Teacher

Ah, thank you Cheikh, and thank you for fitting this appointment in at the last minute. I spoke to Nick this morning and he thought the sessions went really, really well - and he thought the dancing was spot on for the type of children participating ie with a high proportion of ADHD, so I'm doublyglad you had Pape with you in the end.

Hi Sarah

I just wanted to give you some feedback from today's African drummer session with Cheikh. I have received nothing but very positive feedback. All the children - in all year groups have thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the teachers were very impressed at how he was able to teach the children, at all different levels, to produce something at the end of the session. The whole day ran really smoothly.

African Drumming sessions:
They were absolutely fab!

Thanks so much for getting them organised at such short notice.  Cheikh is amazing! We will definitely pop this on our plan for next year, to try and always book him for a day early on in Autumn 2.
Absolutely perfect to launch our Africa topic with Year 1, Meerkat topic with Year 2, and then general djembe lessons with years 3 and 4.

Wow!
Dear Dan; Michael,
The subject says it all - wow! What a night! We had a thoroughly amazing time both leading up to the concert and on the night. The diversity of the suite of pieces was so thought-provoking and highlighted many instruments and styles that the children haven’t met before. Working with Cheikh was incredibly inspirational and both St. Mary's children and myself have taken so much away from our work with him.

Dear Cheikh,
Thanks again for being part of the Holiday hangout last week. Your workshops were great and it was clear the children really enjoyed learning to Djembe - perhaps there may even be a budding drummer amongst them! Plus you arrived in good time, and were polite, fun and easy to work with, which counts for a lot!

Can you please pass on my thanks to Cheikh – he was a wonderful practitioner and his drumming workshops were amazing. I loved the story telling too and learnt a lot about rhythm and drumming history. He has got the perfect personality for engaging pupils and staff and I really have had some great feedback.

Oh My Goodness!
WHAT A COUPLE OF DAYS.
The children are all on a high, I’m on a high!
Cheikh was genuinely amazing and brought so much joy to our school. An absolute gift, and I think that the children learnt so much, in such a short space of time. Thank you so much for the recommendation, and please pass my heartfelt thanks on to Cheikh. I wish he could come in once a month for a whole school boost!

Please do pass on our thanks to Cheikh;

the children absolutely loved the sessions and were all fully engaged. They left the lesson saying how much fun they had. The music was amazing and Cheikh delivered the sessions incredibly well.
here are some quotes from my class about the day:
I enjoyed putting the music together."
I really liked the repetition so I could get used to the " Cheikh was enthusiastic and funny"
I loved the noise and the fact you could hear the drums from far away! ;I liked the fact that we created music from Africa; Many thanks and all the best. Kind regards,

Dear Cheik,

On behalf of the year 4 teachers and children, I’d like to say a huge thank you for coming to QPA to teach our children African drumming.

Not only did you teach them the techniques clearly, you gave them knowledge about your culture, history and how the drums are made, which really added to their experience. All the children looked forward to drumming on a Tuesday so I know they’ll definitely miss it. One child at the end of today said, “This was the best day ever.” Their performance today showed how engaged they were in every lesson, how much they learnt and how fun it was.Thank you once again.
