“Generating rhythms
beat by beat for all generations.”
From humble beginnings in Senegal West Africa, Cheikh Diop, Founding owner and Creative Director of Rhythm Generation, mastered the craft of making and playing traditional djembe drumming, dance, and other African percussion instruments.
For over 30 years, Cheikh has studied and rehearsed with some of the most renowned Griot (guardians of African Cultures and Traditions) families, and at Cultural Centres along the Small-Coast of Senegal. He mastered the art of traditional African ballet performance from the Mandingue, Wolof, Pular and Sérére tribes of Senegal and beyond.
Through his talent, dedication and charisma Cheikh was invited as an ambassador of the arts to take part in a cultural exchange project to the United Kingdom where he shared and taught the traditions of West African music, dance and stories.

Dear Cheikh
What a wonderful evening. Everyone clearly had a blast. It was great to meet you, and Ousmane and John.
I loved the different energy of the two groups – one gentle, fun. and family oriented, the other full of passion, focus and drive from the boys. Yours ever,

Oh My Goodness!
WHAT A COUPLE OF DAYS. The children are all on a high, I’m on a high!
Cheikh was genuinely amazing and brought so much joy to our school. An absolute gift, and I think that the children learnt so much, in such a short space of time. Thank you so much for the recommendation, and please pass my heartfelt thanks on to Cheikh. I wish he could come in once a month for a whole school boost!

Dear Cheikh,
I wanted to drop you an email to thank you on behalf of Ealing Music Service for providing such amazing performances and workshops for us at EMStival last week.
The children, teachers and members of the public have been very complimentary of the fun they had in their workshops.
